We got a couple of lines in the water around 1:30pm yesterday, trolling some bucktails and swimbaits through one of our favorites spots. Another fella' we see out ther eALL the time said he did pretty well in the morning trolling a white bucktail with a couple of fish up to 25 inches.
No bites after about 40 minutes so we trolled southwest across the channel. Didn't see much on the screen, and definitely nothing on the lines.
Still no birds.....even with the 10x50's.
Went back to "the spot" and finally caught one barely 18" fish on a crankbait at high tide in about 10' of water.
Had two more small fish hook up at just about the same time but damn if both of them didn't get off.
Listened to the chatterbox (aka VHF) for a while and someone said it took him since 6am, but he finally got into some nice fish near the bridge in 25+ feet of water.
Also heard some chatter from some kind of military or law enforcement exercise involving airplanes and maybe helicopters on channel 21A I think. They were setting up some kind of scenarios involving "interceptors" and "bogies."
