Planers are a MUST when pulling a lot more rods than 6. Even with 6 rods, at least 1 board would help. It spreads your lures away from the boat and covers a lot more ground. All summer long I run 6 rods off the boat but I have to admit I am looking forward to putting the "full spread" back on the boat.
