Default Wed 5/26 fishing ok

I went out at 3:00 and immediately started questioning my sanity. If I hadn't promised my neighbor that I would take him I would have put the boat on the trailer and went home. I motored ever so carefully through all of the boats on the Severn river partying after the Blue Angels show and headed down to Thomas Point. We marked fish in about 30' of water and started jigging. Then the motorcade of boats starting making way from the Severn. We were hanging on and taking in water more than fishing! So I decided to get closer to shore and away from the autobon that had suddenly started up in the bay. We got into 18' - 20' of water and started marking smaller fish so we changed gear to light rods with tandem botttom rigs using bloodworms. The bite was on immediately and stayed on untill the slack tide. We ended up catching 52 Croaker from 9" - 18" and 13 Perch from 6" - 11". My son and neighbor had the time of their lives and were begging me to take them out again.

Sounds like you "hooked" a few kids. I hope you kept a few big croakers for dinner. Again a report with perch, croakers but no spot.Sounds like a good time to me...........Gary

Croaks in the mid bay?? Sweet!! I was more excited about hearing that than I was about the rock. Congratulations on a nice day of catching!

18" croaker will darn near take the rod out of your hand. Sounds like a great way to spend the afternoon.

My dad and I had a similar good day. We caught our rock in the morning and then did some bottom fishing behind #1 at the mouth of the West River. Steady action of perch and croakers for a couple of hours. Dad took home about a dozen big perch from 11 to 12 inches and about a dozen croakers around 12 to 13 inches. (did not catch any croakers over 13 inches) Many more small perch and small croakers in the mix. Stopped and motored over to TP and watched the Angels.....awesome! Next year I am going to have to fight the crowds to get a front row seat....Mark
