Default saturday afternoon

Left the pier around 3:30 saturday afternoon with a good friend his wife son and son's girlfriend . The girlfriend had never really been fishing so was hopeful to get her some pullage. Ran across the bay to poplar island area and immediately found breaking fish. Caught 3 bluefish and 3 rockfish 18-19 inches and played with the school for about an hour. Next set up for the croaker bite and had a steady bite on soft crab as bait. Ended up with 24 croaker in the 15-16 inch range. Around 7:30 pm birds started working and the fish were breaking. Ended up putting 4 more keepers in the boat largest rock at 22 inches. Bass assasins and lonely angler topwater worked best and fished seemed to prefer a fast retrieve. Afternoons seem to be better on the eastern side. Lots of breakers when i looked through the binoculars to the south. Oh and by the way the girlfriends pink spinning rod was on fire. And yes a TON OF BAIT on the fishfinder and on the surface.

The faster retreives are working a lot better right now...The fish seem very active and are looking for active baits...
