Default How bad has it gotten "over there"

Just saw this in someones post on the "other" board...

"Please be nice, not trying to start an argument."

Has is really gotten to that point...If so that is sad...I spend 99% of my time here now, am hoping others find this as safe a place as the New World was to the colonists as they tried to escape the oppresion of the Old World....

After reading all my bmails from CB Admin, its happening over here too....

Listen TF was a GREAT place, 7 years ago, even 5 years ago.Had about 10,000 people, and then it just exploded, which is good for Brandon, bad for "originals".

Opinions are like noses, everybody has one. Its getting tougher to sift through the BS, but there still some legit info over there.

I think it is that time of the month for some of the trouble makers

I am not sure it is bad at all. That board is huge now, and the larger a fishing board becomes the more likely a thread is going to be challenged. It seemed friendlier when it was smaller years ago, but that may be just a matter of scale. If this board grows to nearly 60,000 members, it will certainly have some nasty guys on it too. As it grows, it all depends on how the moderator handles things. It is certainly a balancing act and not easy.

Some guys will never learn how to disagree with others without becoming nasty. It is their nature and it will not change.

When I have an opinion that may differ from other posters I have a simple rule I try to follow. State the opinion one time; if challenged clarify my opinion with further explanation, if further challenged, move on. Arguing on the internet is a little like arguing with the insane. Even if you seem to win, what have you won?

I'll continue to respond to posts on TF where I can answer questions and chime in on threads from friends I've made over the last 5 yrs.
Choose your battles. Once you realize most arguments aren't likely to be won on a fishing forum you can put things into perspective.
I had a lot of help when I started fishing again and kind of enjoy giving back now and again.

Over all both fishing boards are good. You just need to pull the weeds. There are only a hand full of people who don't know how to act and are not about to learn. They were ignored as a child and now beg for attention. Arguing with those folks is like trying to blow out a light bulb. Ignore mode is the way to go.........Gary

I'm a moderator on a local gun forum, and we have the same growing pains over there. We want to let people speak their minds, but some people insist on proving that they don't have one. As the forum grew, it became harder to manage every thread, so we pretty much let the members run things as they see fit. A few of them push the envelope a little, but 95% of them know when to stop.

I don't like TF's new format, and I hate the "FISHING REPORT", and "QUESTION" titles in front of every post.

yeah, I'm picky.....
