Default kayak fishfinder

mounted my new fishfinder in my kayak. it's humminbird 798ci si. it has 2d sonar, chartplotter and side image/down image on 5" screen. 3 presets for favorite screen configurations, carousel menu for the rest. $750 for the FF, 170 for the gold chart.

i mounted the xducer inside the hull. i dammed off a little area in the bow with plexiglas (held in place by electrical duct seal), filled with water and the x-ducer sits in the puddle.

i did a little testing and it seems to be working ok. i have range set on 68' but it can go out to 150 ea side.

Cool! I had never thought about the transducer situation.

Your set up makes good sense....seems that a transducer located on the outside of a kayak's hull would get trashed pretty quickly.

Where are you going to fish with it?

everywhere! that's one of the advantages of kayak - portability. nanticoke areas asap, honga and del bay soon, friend wants me to join him in VA,... my real problem is available time for goofing around in small boats.

Entire set up makes good fishing sense at all....
