Default Solomons Searching for Big Fish - Not Yet 11.9.15

We tried to find the first wave of big migratory fish yesterday but none to be found based on our results. Trailered down to Solomons and put in a full day with big baits and boards. Decent bait and marks at times around the western channel edge. Gannets are there, but didn't see a single one dive. Lots of birds hunting, but nothing really hammering the schools of bait, which appear to be large menhaden based on a few we scared out of the water when trolling through. Did pick up a a few low-20s fish and had a few mystery knockdowns on board lines (I think smaller fish missing the hook on big baits). One odd thing happened when we got a bite on a small umbrella that took the entire trailing lure... looked like a clean bite-off. Bluefish? Must have been a bit one if it was. Very strange. In summary, don't think they're here yet in any decent numbers. Hopefully it will bust open any day now. Only saw one other boat fishing the main stem, a charter looking for marks to live line on (never did see him stop).

Heh, yesterday was a looong day. Hitching boat up at 4-ish and not unhitching until after 7. Not quite offshore trip crazy, but I believe I'll wait a bit for higher confidence in the fishing before the next trip (outside of possibly the MSSA). Conditions seem pretty good for a nice fall of migratory fishing, now if only we can get the fish to come up.

Thanks for saving me a lot of time and fuel. I was going to run down there with a full spread early next week. I think I will wait for the tournament to fish out of PLO and go for broke!
