Left at 0930. Between the poles at the Harbor by 1300. Got all our rockfish and some nice blues. Instead of giving the blues away as crab bait, I took extra care cleaning them, cut them into nuggets and had the Harbor fry them with Cajun seasoning. I passed them out at the dock bar. Out of probably 30 people that tried them, everyone liked it and no one guessed they were bluefish.

Forgot the picture.

We did better rockfishing than my buddy Jerry did fishing for his brand new iPhone. He had it in his shirt pocket and it fell out as he stepped off the boat. That makes five cellphones that I'm aware of that are in the water along Happy Harbors docks.

Good thing you are going to work a few more years, you look like you could get used to this lifestyle
We had charters Sat., Sun, Mon, and this coming Wed. I'm sleeping in tomorrow until at least 7am.

Just speculation; the schools we have been fishing are dwindling and the size of the rock have been slowly diminishing as well. That's not to say there are not some bigger fish out there, but to find them I think you have to get away from the crowds. Still catching blues to 22-24 inches but with a lot of 15-16 inch blues mixed in.

The problem is, if we need 12 rock, we know we can get 12 keepers (18-22 inches) at our old standby places. If, as a rec. I only need 4-6 rock, I can try other areas, and if I come up a couple shy, no harm no foul.

Sometimes it's better to fish for fun

I was shooting down at Delmarva a few years ago and stepped into the portapot to drain the morning coffee. As luck would have it, this particular john had a lid over the seat. I bent over to lift it and my new Blackberry headed straight into the murky blue/brown "water."

That ***** was written off before the first splash.
