Default It was a white rice day

I had an invite from a cbangler (I'll let him post about the trip if he wants) and we had a great day. We caught some fish, I fished with two new people, and got on another sweet boat. I like to see how others have their rigs (boat, tackle, electronics) different than mine. I picked up a few tips about using rubber bands (I normally use scotty clips) and keeping them from sliding through the mono (try wrapping the mono twice around your hand then applying the rubber band around the doubled line). I saw a good place to keep my cutters and pliers strapped down with wire ties on the down tubes of your hardtop (other than on my dash) to have them more accessable. And finally, saw Rob's (fishnut) lures in action (they sure do catch).
HOWEVER, I dropped my cell in the water at the ramp. I took the battery out and dried it as best I could, but still not working. I saw a post once about putting your wet cell in a jar of uncooked white rice and it would draw out the moisture. I'll let you know how it turns out.
So that's how it turned out to be a white rice day .

The cell phone companies are missing a golden opportunity.

Market a phone for boaters / fishermen that is waterproof and floats.

There are literally hundreds of cell phones dropped in the bay every year. When I dive - you should hear the fish calling each other

Hope the rice trick fixes it.
I've heard placing near a light bulb helps too.

Thanks Skip, might try putting the rice jar near a light bulb. My cell is so old (HOW OLD IS IT); that it doesn't even take photos. When I go into best buy to look at phones, the guy takes a look at it and shakes his head. They always ask if I can still get batteries for it. If I get a new phone, I'll have to get Baldzilla to show me how to work the new HDS 7 AND the phone. My luck, I'll have tennis elbow from fishing and carple tunnel from texting on the new phone.

They make them, Motorola, Sony, Sanyo and others......waterproof, shockproof, drop-proof, etc.
I was talking with a USCG officer a few days ago and he had a new one....small, compact, rubberized, nice screen and lots of features.....pretty cool.
The problem is they are expensive compared to a normal cellphone.

Try setting your wet phone on a heat vent overnite....should dry it out.....air conditioning will also remove the moisture during the summer season.

Hey Marty,

Catching always makes everything else better!

If you have Verizon Wireless, let me know. I might have a phone you can have. Not sure...I'd have to look for it but my daughter gets a new phone everytime I turn around.

The rice works well, but it will take some time. The mistake people make is using too much heat. Rice works on laptops as well.

I just figured out my remote to the dvd. And just because I go to bed at 8:00 doesn't mean I go to sleep at 8:00. Hell, it takes viagra at least 45 minutes to work.

Keith; thanks. I hope the rice does the trick, but it is a verizon phone. I looked right on the side of the can (and string), and it says verizon.
