Default Fishing Aboard the Patent Pending 3-15-2012 (Take Two)

Another fantastic day to be on the water, and I was fortunate enough to share some fishing time with another crew of good people.

Today's crew was Marty (5th), Mike (Garlien), Rob (Fish Nut), Charlie from the charter boat "Big Will" and Oscar, a Deale native who makes some great looking lures. And of course PP's captain John.

We left Deale around 8:30am and headed southeast'ish. Worked an area close to yesterday's trip, somewhere between Tilghman Island and Chesapeake Beach.

Bait had moved a little higher up from yesterday and in some places a LOT higher up. Saw some birds, but nothing really spectacular. By 10:30 we had two nice fish in the boat.Mike caught a fat one and then Charlie landed a MONSTER. I caught a nice fish in the low 30's, then things got quiet for a bit. I think we ended up closer to the Choptank when the next two fish hit. Rob pulled in a nice one, then a few minutes later a real pig started screaming some line off. John took the rod and fought her in.....ended up right at 40 inches I think.

Summary: 5 nice fish boated, a few missed fish, and a hell of a nice day to be out. All fish caught off of boat rods.

The fishing was great, but the strangest part of the day was the ride home.

Marty: "So Mike, did you have a good time today?"

Mike: "Oh yes Marty! I had a swell time!"

Marty: "Maybe....maybe we could um....go out again sometime?"

Mike: "That would be great, Marty! I really love watching the sunset from the boat with you."

Marty, leaning in as if to kiss Mike goodnight, "Me too Mike.....me too"

Good thing there was no wine onboard.

It was a great day with a great crew. I hope we can get back out again next week. Things will only get better.

I received some really good information from another angler tonight that should help us even more the next time out. (Thanks)

If there was I probably would've drank it after finishing that big bottle of Makers Mark.

Put me right to sleep!

Seems like the fish are moving pretty good. Each day we've gone out we've done a little better and caught them a little further north perhaps.

Marty, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we had only one fish with sea lice on it yesterday?

Actually Scott; we had several fish with sea lice. However, they were not loaded with lice. There would only be a few that dropped off several fish.

For most of the day, we ran six boat rods and our "six pack" unweighted with only a five oz chute was the hot ticket. We picked up 3 of the 5 fish off that rod. Next time out the boards go over and the water temps should be right where we want them. Water was 52* today.
