Default Educated fish

I was out with Bug Guy yesterday and during a lull in the fishing, we discussed the idea that we are "educating" the fish as some captains have suggested. After much pondering we decided this:
We both teach college students. Spring run rockfish and college students both are focused on pretty much the same 2 things (if we prove that rock drink beer, then we can go with 3). Our students forget at least 90% of what they "learn" in a week or so. SO, since rockfish brains are only a fraction the size of college student brains, they will forget anything I teach them in a matter of hours!!

Nice work fellas. The longer run paid its rewards. Glad to see you all enjoying a day on the water!

You both spend too much time thinking You should be thinking about what the rock fish are thinking and then drink a beer............Gary

Fish are dumb......their brains "reset" every 5-8 seconds......they think primarily about food, when they sense danger the escape urge overpowers the food urge......then their brain resets again.......sex is only on their mind about 2 weeks out of the year, so there's no comparison to college students.

I once caught the same barely legal rockfish 6 times in one day....had "broken" stripes so was kinda distinctive......threw him back for a bigger one......second time punched a hole in his tail with a paper punch......caught him 5 more times......sixth time was one fish short of a boat limit so he became dinner. Dumb fish!

I always laugh when I hear fishermen complain that C/R educates fish.
With Rockfish - look at what they hit in the first place.
A hairy green or white thing with a rubber fish on it

Not exactly the smartest critters out there.

Actually Skip, on Thursday they hit a lead colored thing with the eyes missing and white hair.
