Default Hardheads up north....Perch, Nice Stripers

Spent a couple of hours with Scott (Spot77) from Baltimore light to Bodkin Point...Snake Reef has also been doing well...

Hardheads from 12 to 16-17 getting caught on sea clams, leaving the bait all the way on the bottom...Started catching around 5PM and it kept pulling them in on the clams...

Perch were hitting the clams as well...Some nice 12" inchers in there too....

Chummed, trolled heavy, and light gear, as well as, casted rattles....As usual the stripers started thier best run of the day near the tide change and about an hour before dark.

Caught one huge ray earlier this week in less than 10' of water and watched another pulled in last night, smaller, in about 6 foot of water...

Hopefully I will get out there sometime in the next couple of days again...

Rumor has it that Podickory and Love Point are both still producing on chum as well...Heard about a number of 30+ inch stripers still be caught at Podickory...

Good luck to all.....

"on sea clams"- is this something special or just regular clam snouts?

I love 12-17" Hardheads!! And the fact that they are north of the bridge is even better! May have to try them one night this week. Thanks for the report!!

It's good to see that the bull croakers are up that far once again. There are a couple lumps on the south lip of the Magothy that have produced the 14 to 17 inchers for us in years past if one is inclined. We refer to them as "the croaker lumps". Good luck!

Chessie,

I used to use Clam Snouts all the time, until Bud at Fishbones suggested I use Sea Clams...They are much larger bodies than snouts, you get a lot more for your money, they work as well or better, and I have caught perch, spot, blues, stripers, croakers, and red drum with them....You do have to cut them up, but it is well worth it. There is a link to a picture of them below...Not the best picture, but you will get the idea...
