Shake Down Cruise complete. It is amazing what a set of reconditioned props will do. I had a lot of work done on the props + balancing of the shaft. Picked up 2K on the rpm and a little top end. I would suspect i will get a little extra fuel economy also. Its also interesting how the harmonic of the boat has changed when running.

Lunched out of Sandy Point at 9:00am came back in at 3:00pm 4-9-2011
water temp on western shore was 50.0F Eastern shore 49.2F Water quality was stained 1- 2' visibility a lot of trash and logs in the water. Roughly 14 -16 large boats anchored in the anchorage. Most riding high waiting to be filled. Almost 0 pleasure boat on the water from the Bay bridge to Tomas point today. The bait was scattered no big bait balls. Very little bird activity just scattered divers hear and there.

An excellent day on the water burning off some old gas.

Rob; glad she ran well. This week looks to be sunny so I'm hoping the bait will rise with the water temps.

Keep in touch.

I counted 8 boats off of BP at 10am today. Water temp 49 at Thomas Point.

Far cry from 2 years ago, same day, when I counted 65.

Not more fish.
This is going to be a year like 4 years ago. Slow water warming, more then a 2 week season. Fish are stacked up at the mouth of the bay right now.

And yeah, PSCR slowed the boats down, but there wouldn't have been a problem save for some pictures.

Reds; this is not a dig at you, but at DNR. What a way to manage fish, by photo's on an internet site.
If that's the best information they have, God help the rockfish population.

If a few PSCR photos was really the cause of the 6 rod limit - then the photos of the 4-5 TONS of dead Rock found in the gill nets this winter should cause gill netting to be stopped.

It was all politics - dirty politics at that.

The one thing you guys keep forgetting is the politics involved with the ASMFC.
Fisherman were bitching all the way up the coat to Maine about the pictures and the blood.

DNR has to appease the ASMFC to keep what they have. The word came down to do something about the supposed catch and release, when it appeared fish were being hurt.

For every guy out there that knows how to catch a fish and release it unharmed, there are 100 that don't have a clue.

Welcome to the real world.

I don't believe you want to admit you had a part in the pre season cut back but you did. I'm sure Brandy gave you an atta-boy for the post at the time.

I would stop worrying about the gill nets and start worrying about the rock you won't be able to catch next year after the states north of Maryland get finished this fall and winter. They are worrying about themselves and could care less about Maryland's rec fishermen and are about to try and drop the hammer on us.

BTW

You all were fishing in to deep of water today. 6 fish were caught by 2 guys behind BP light in 5 feet of water. Biggest was 38". Best time was turn of the tide at low water.
