Are your board rods on the roof as well, or just the trident rods?
If your flatlining your planer board lines, you may consider running the lines off your bow rail
Here's how I do it. I bought a alum pipe, mounted it on a board, bolted it to my rails, and put the rods in that. The lines get tied right off to my bow rail.
It's a little less choatic than running them off of a combination of the roof, the gunnels, and whatever else It also gets all of the board rods way up front and out of the way of everything else.
Again, it only works when your running your boards off the bow.
