Default Sharps Island with friends

Left the dock at 6:30 and headed to Sharps Island area looking for bluefish with Capt John. Finally got Mako Mike out on John's boat

Mike bought a spreader bar from John and hasn't caught a damn thing on it; so today we put 27 nice blues in the box and a surprise Spanish Mackerel while using just spreader bars

The fish were a bit skittish and often the birds and breaking fish were moving on by the time we arrived. Many of the blues were spitting up small bay anchovies (silversides). I suspect that if we had downsized or baits, we may have had more hookups.

We released a fair number of 17-19 inch rock that will be legal next year

After two days of fishing, sleeping in tomorrow !!!

Soooo glad I could finally make a trip. And yes I am a true believer of Capt. Johns spreader bars. I want to thank Marty for the invite it was truly an enjoyable trip and met a few new friends. I also want to thank Capt. John for his hospitality. Made you feel very comfortable and at home while on his beautiful fishing rig, and boy what a meal he put on after the trip back at his cafe in Deale. Fresh blues, and mackerel, and a huge tray of fries! I can't wait for the next invite, although I'm sure due to work commitment I will have to turn down a few before I can make one. Kinda sucks fishing with a bunch of retired guys, truly make you jealous!

Marty,

What size range were the blues and Spanish? I want to get a crack at this soon before the macs go away. Thanks!

Don
